Tonight (by accident) I left my laptop unplugged and in a state where it could not go to sleep automatically. In the morning I found the laptop with its battery completely depleted, but still running!
Kudos to power management systems in Core 2 Duo and Windows Server 2008!

Wohoo! That is a cool battery life ... for doing nothing. :-) Now, how about 8 hours of productivity ? :-)

"8 hours of wireless productivity on a single charge" and it is 17'' screhttp://1-800-magic.blogspot.com/2009/04/dell-latitude-8-hours-on-single-charge.htmlen btw.
It is a bit pricey, all right, but very nice toy so :-)
But I LOVE your post title so. It sounds like Dell Latitude was indeed working for 8 hours :-)
and it does not look like a power failure at all ( as it actually is - my Mac would just go sleep, as it does and it can "run" this way I do not know how many 100's of hours :)
PC and Dell rules of course! :-) And 8 hours is indeed impressive for Windows that failed to sleep: I remember my old PC Laptops were dead dry much faster doing nothing: a very annoying thing. At least know a power management failure is not such a disaster and few hours will not finish all the juice :-)
Cool. I wonder what the battery degradation curve looks like.
My laptop only goes for 15 minutes on a charge these days. I'm too cheap to buy a new one.
